As an in-school abstinence-only based education program, we are dedicated to reaching youth with the message of abstinence. Students in 11 counties, ranging from 6th to 10th grade have a one week curriculum that is designed specifically for that particular grade level. A workbook guides the students through the week covering a variety of topics such as, future goals, sexually transmitted diseases, teen pregnancy, character development, and healthy ideas about dating. The students will throughout the week have opportunities to work with one another doing various group activities that reemphasize the importance of the subject that is being discussed for that day. Our curriculum is designed to inform students of the realities of sexual activity before marriage while creating a safe, informative environment that allows the teens to voice their opinions, concerns and ask difficult questions. We believe that sexual abstinence is the only medically safe and responsible choice for unmarried teenagers and saving sex until marriage is the best way to keep your self respect and health. We offer education which includes character development, the advantages of abstinence, refusal skills training, role modeling, and a mentoring program. We believe teens deserve to hear accurate information concerning the physical, emotional, mental, and social consequences of having sex before marriage. Given this information, we believe students will be well equipped to make good decisions for themselves. Our program should be a forum where students can discover healthy dating relationships, appropriate boundaries, respect for self, others, and future relationships.
