STARS stands for Students Teaching Abstinence Relationships and Self-control.  We are an after-school club that talks to unmarried teens about making the healthiest decisions for life by staying away from sexual activity, drugs, alcohol, and tobacco while having fun at the same time.  High school students make a commitment to abstinence, and are able to mentor middle school students through fun clubs talking about the same issues.  STARS is able to show that it is freeing to be abstinent, because you have the freedom to become the best you can be.

We believe that sexual abstinence is a medically safe and responsible choice for unmarried teenagers and saving sex until marriage will help keep healthly mentally and physically. We offer education which includes character development, the advantages of abstinence, refusal skills training, role modeling, and a mentoring program.

We believe teens deserve to hear accurate information concerning the physical, emotional, mental, and social consequences of having sex before marriage. Given this information, we believe students will be well equipped to make good decisions for themselves. Our program should be a forum where students can discover healthy dating relationships, appropriate boundaries, respect for self, others, and future relationships.
